Cuba Cars (Digital Painting) This image is a depiction of downtown Havana Cuba. This takes place right in front of the Capital building along the busy streets, with the constant traffic going by, it was difficult to obtain the reference material for this one. I had to paint this scene because it was a great example of the historically old classic cars that are still running throughout the country. I really enjoyed how the the subject matter leads to the conversation in the background among the taxi drivers. There is a story to be told here, and I've captured a glimpse of it. My technique for this painting was to maintain a very traditional work flow when creating this. By this I mean picking the accurate colors, not just sampling them from a picture. Each brush stroke was done with great care and not just patched together from the reference. Basically, it started from scratch as a blank screen and with the same approach that I would take for traditional oil painting. This was an exercise in detail, but really pleased how it turned out.
